“Last Ones on This Earth” is a post-apocalyptic science fiction story where all of humanity has been killed off—except two people. He wants to travel to the stars. She thinks that’s a pipe dream. He wants to resume a romantic relationship. She’s not interested—even though he’s the literal last man on Earth. Boo. Or yay?

It’s a story that takes “I won’t date you even if you’re the last person on Earth” to its logical conclusion. Plus some good ol’ philosophizing on how to preserve and honour humanity in the end times, because science fiction.

I’ve been focused on science fiction and urban fantasy recently for my short fiction. Makes for a nice contrast with my novel, which wanders the threshold between epic fantasy and dark fantasy.
